If you are in the mood to listen and dance to wonderful South American music, then be sure to set aside the evening of June 4th to see “So Danco Samba” who will have you dancing from 1930 to 2230 at Bar Berlin.

So Danco Samba consists of:

Hector Chirinos – Percussion and vocals.

So Danco Samba” was created by Chris Harris to offer the Latino and Brazilian community of Nelson a small ensemble that offered a variety of South American dance styles and another opportunity for the community to gather somewhere socially. The band  performs the Samba, Bossanova, Pagode, Gafieira, Forro, Montuno, Mambo, Bolero, Tango, Rhumba, and takes requests.

So Danco Samba“s line-up  can vary according to need and budget, but the core players are Chris Harris (Brass and Percussion/ Musical Director), Dai Minamizawa (Piano/Arranger), Marcio Molinari (Guitar, Percussion, and vocals), and Hector Chirinos (Percussion and vocals). The bands core personnel are (respectively) from New Zealand, Japan, Brazil, and Venezuela.

So Danco Samba” appeared  most recently at the opening of the Brazilian Reel Film Festival,  at the closing of the Film Festival, and currently has bookings around the Nelson/Picton area. While the band caters musically to the South American/Cuban community, anyone is welcome to gigs  and will enjoy the warm but highly energetic atmosphere that is guaranteed!
