Membership to the Nelson Jazz Club is open to all people with an interest in the many forms of Jazz (both musicians and supporters). Membership costs just $10 for a supporter member and $30 for a musician member (free for students), and lasts from the date of joining until the end of that calendar year.

As well as supporting live Jazz in Nelson, all members receive the following benefits:

  • 10% discount at the following outlets: Beggs Musicworks, Music Planet, The Vic Brew Bar
  • First option on coveted tickets for shows at the annual Woollaston Nelson Jazz and Blues festival.
  • The opportunity to win a $25 bartab voucher, drawn every Tuesday night (live jazz night) at the Vic. (You must be there with your current membership card).

Musician members also receive the following additional benefits:

  • Free rehearsal space at the jazz clubroom.
  • Eligibility to gig on the Vic roster and at other selected venues.
  • Opportunity to play with the Nelson Jazz Club Big Band (currently looking for trombone and trumpet players, but new members are always welcome).
  • Advertising on our website for individual musicians/bands and support for gigs.

There are three ways to join the Nelson Jazz Club:

    Ensure you add your name as a reference when making payment.

    Once you have made the payment, please use the email facility on the “contact us” page of the website to let the club know who is making the payment. Remember to include a physical address so that we can send out the membership card. Most communication from the Jazz Club is via email, so an email address, and a home and/or mobile phone number are also useful.

  • Call into the Vic Brew Bar (281 Trafalgar Street, Nelson), fill out a membership form (available at the bar) and pay on the spot. While doing this you will be eligible for a free coffee, tap beer or house wine.
  • Download the application form, and send it with payment to the address shown on the form.

The Jazz Club keeps a database of musician members. If you are keen to have your details recorded, include instruments you play/vocals in the email/form and we will add you to our database so that as opportunities arise within the club we can contact you.
