Hardlines at Bar Berlin Wednesday 2nd July at 8 pm

The monthly Nelson Jazz Club gig will be held from 8 pm on Wednesday 2nd July featuring “Hardlines Jazz” with local  veteran saxophone player Andrew Leachman helped and supported by keyboard wizard Dai Minamizawa plus the wonderfully talented Paul Gilmore on bass and time keeper extra ordinary, Simon Terrill.

Club Members and Bar Berlin patrons can expect to hear spontaneous interpretations of melodies by Roland Kirk, Hank Mobley, Monk, Rollins and Mingus. Older members of the club might recall the “Hardlines” group playing at the old Hotel Nelson, which once stood on the current site of the Nelson Museum. In addition to playing for the Al Leonard Band, Andrew enjoyed a long term musical relationship with fellow saxophone player and arranger George Jury, sadly now retired. Andrew currently plays baritone saxophone with the Nelson Jazz Club Big Band.
